So, you just invested into the best extensions on the market… and let’s face it- Extensions are expensive! In order to ensure the longevity follow these few tips:
• Wash with a sulfate FREE hydrating shampoo and conditioner.
• Think HYDRATION! Use the most hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner you can find! absolutely no volumizing or clarifying products as these are sure to dry your hair out.
• a good Oil & leave-in conditioner is key to long lasting extensions. be sure to oil the middle to ends of your extensions at least once a day, avoiding the roots! use a leave-in prior to styling while still wet, in addition to daily after freshening up in the mornings or just when they feel dry- they will feel brand new!
• Dry hair = brittle and broken ends which ultimately means loss of length
• IF you choose to air dry your extensions- always blow dry the row to ensure no matting and tangling or mildew due to moisture.
• When sleeping- bun or braid it! Scrunchies are the best to ensure no breakage or creases. absolutely no sleeping with a wet head!
• satin or Silk pillowcases are a must- this will help to prevent from frizzy dry hair! (and they're great for your skin)
• When brushing, work from the bottom up! And only use brushes designated for extensions! Brush multiple times per day to prevent tangling. its also great to apply your leave-in and oils here.
• If you plan to be in harsh sun or water, apply conditioner and wear in a braid or loose high pony or bun. absolutely DO NOT GET SUNSCREEN ON YOUR EXTENSIONS, they will turn a terrible salmon pink color. Salt and Chlorine can strip the colors of the extensions and will need extra hydration!
• If you have hard water- get a filter!
• invest in a good blow dryer! trust me- this makes all of the difference!
• DO NOT cut the wefts- this will lead to the wefts unraveling! They can be layered and folded but not cut!
• Hair can last 6-9 months with proper care!
• Hair extensions are 100% human hair and have been processed to the color they are today- like any human hair they can experience color fading over time and will loose length and fullness with normal use! They can be refreshed with a toner or a deposit only color- we do NOT recommend bleach being applied to the hair extensions!
